The Serenity Prayer

I had lunch with my Uncle Mike & Aunt Pam yesterday. It was NICE! I’m so glad we were able to get together. We met at Max & Erma’s and stayed about 2 hours. (We couldn’t stop talking!)

My Uncle Mike and I have a lot in common, besides our family. We both have parents that test our limits, all the time. He can relate to my issues with my dad because of his mother (and I’m sure, because he’s related to him as well) and vice versa. Something Mike said helps him each day is the Serenity Prayer. It’s used in AA as well as several other addiction practices but it applies to every day life. It truly does. You just have to REALLY read what it says.

This is something that I need to repeat to myself daily. I struggle with worry, doubt and fear…..this is a good affirmation for me.

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
