Going Green: Continues

So, I’ve been thinking of more ways to go green. I’m totally bummed about not being able to recycle. I truly don’t understand why I can’t just pay out right for recycling bins and have Rumpke pick them up. Why should anyone have to pay to recycle anyway? Grrr…

Here are a few of the things I’ve been doing to reduce my carbon foot print (or whatever they’re calling it):
1) Timing my showers – I try to be in and out in 5 minutes. Cindy gave me a kitchen timer that I stuck in the bathroom and have been using until I can get a clock radio.
2) Anytime a light bulb goes out, I replace it with a energy efficient one.
3) Using “green” cleaning products.
4) I switched to using organic shampoo and conditioner.
5) I have been trying to use less paper towels and more of my dish towels.
6) I started using recycled paper towels and toilet paper (these are also biodegradable)
7) Reusable water bottle

I’ve also found that Butler Tech has a recycling area that is open to the community to use. I think I’m going to start dropping off my recyclable stuff there.

Slowly but surely, I’m making steps to better myself and the environment!
