Apartment Update

I have so much to blog about….well, kind of. I guess if anyone is interested in my apartment adventures, then this will be the blog for you! I’m sure I will get events of things out of order but you know it’s been a busy few days!

Saturday, I took possession of my apartment. I got up, got dressed and headed over there with my mother in tow to sign the lease and pick up my keys. I took 2 magnets and 2 other things with me. I took my Meridian Idaho magnet that I picked up on my first trip to Boise/Meridian and a picture of Benjamin. I also took a clip of a really funny comic that I clipped out of a Kentucky newspaper last year. To me, this made my apartment seem more "mine" until I could get some of my crap moved in.

Then, I headed out to see my therapist and to work the Amstan golf outing. Whew. I didn't get done until almost 4 then I headed back home, picked up ALL of the items I got for my birthday/Christmas last year (thanks to my wonderful friends and family who believed I'd move SOME DAY), packed it all up in Tina's car and headed back to the apartment.

I got all of my kitchen stuff put together:

My bathroom is all set up:

And then I put stuff in the living room, guest room/office and master. It looks kind of bare without any furniture:

I took a 1/2 day off work on Monday and all day Tuesday off. Monday, I went to my apartment and picked up a copy of my lease (and found out that I had electric!!!) and then ran into town (like 1 minute away) and made the deposit on my water. Then, I headed home and started the clean/sort/pack process. I cleaned out my vanity, pitching old letters from boyfriends, hair scrunchies from God knows when as well as a bunk of other junk then I headed over to my entertainment center. I sorted through my DVDs as well as old VHS tapes, boxed up the ones I wanted to keep (and still watch) and boxed up the others to donate. I took those items over to the apartment as well as some odd & end things that I found and packed up.

Yesterday....wow. I did so much. I got up kind of early, ate some breakfast and then started....I sorted ALL of my books (and I had a TON), boxed up the donate books and then started on my clothes, again, boxing up or bagging up the donation pile. Here is a picture of what it looked like when I was finished:

All of the above items: clothes, shoes, movies, CD's, books and other junk, I mean, items will be donated to Tina's church. I thought about selling my media items and books to Half Priced Books but you know, I figured I wouldn't get that much and this will go towards the Barn Sale that Tina's church has every year. Speaking of Barn Sale - Tina found me a kitchen table and chairs, a small lamp, a cutting board, a cook book, a small end table, full sized bed frame and drapes, from her church. Tina and her mom are over there working all week to get ready for the Barn Sale this weekend and she found those items for me. Which, further encouraged me to donate my items to the church instead of selling them.

All of my Scentsy stuff was moved to the apartment yesterday as well as more DVDs, some books and the table top of the table Tina got me. Katie (my brother's friend) came over and brought a TON of boxes and also loaded up her car to help move things over. My room at my mom's looks so bare. I have some books, albums, DVDs and knick knack items that haven't been moved over yet. I don't want to be completely bare while I'm still living there. I can't get my big furniture moved over until I can get some trucks lined up which probably won't happen until the weekend of the 11th & 12th. Meanwhile, I'll just continue moving things over, as much as I can at least, in my car. Mom and I will see what furniture we can fit in her van to move as well.

My friend Dawn (from work) is giving me 2 book shelves, an over stuffed chair and a glider. Dad has a couch and 2 end tables. Joanie has already given me 2 wall sconces, a lamp and a kitchen rug. So, I only need a full sized mattress & box springs, a small desk for my guest room/office, a coffee table and maybe some night stands and I'm all set. (I think anyway.)

I still need some small things like: a shower caddy, tooth brush holder, microwave, hand mixer, wine rack, broom, mop, dust pan, hand soap (for bathroom and kitchen)...and some grocery like items that you never think about: salt, pepper, sugar, flour, tin foil, plastic baggies, mustard, ketchup, mayo, sponges, all kinds of cleaners (dust, windows, toilet, counters), coffee, toilet paper, paper towels, tissues, trash bags, dish soap and I'm sure a whole bunch of other stuff that I haven't thought of. Thank God for Sarah who made me a list of things she could think of.

I'd also still like a small desk and then I have to get a mattress and box springs for my new full sized frame. All in time, all in time. My problem is, I want everything RIGHT now. I'll get there.

I think that's all for now. That's all I can think of/remember anyway.
