Kim

The receptionist at our front desk (for the building) has been struggling recently.

Kim is very dear to me. She always has a kind thing to say, a soft smile and a ear to listen. I always stop to talk to her, she's just that kind of person. She knows about my headaches and says she's been praying for me. I believe she has been.

Her husband lost his job a few weeks back. Kim took this news very hard. They were just starting to recover from the last layoff he suffered from and now, he'd been fired from this job. His current company switched owners and because her husband didn't want to "manage" the way they thought he should, they let him go. Kim is always talking about how she knows that God has a reason behind everything and she's trying very hard to put her trust and faith in him.

I found a card, two weeks ago at Kroger that said just what I needed it to say. I also contacted Cara (from Just Jewelry) and asked her for the Ephesians 2:8 bracelet. (which says: Ephesians 2:8-For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not your own doing, it is the gift of God...)(The bracelet is 3 - one in English, one in Spanish and one in French). I gave her this as a present and a "cheer up" gift. I know it's a rough time for her and I just wanted to let her know I was thinking of her.

Today, she presented me with a card and a packet of potpourri that she made me from her garden. This card made me bawl. I don't talk about my religion that much. I've learned over the years not to talk about it. And to be honest, I struggle with how I "believe" every day and I have for years....but that's for a different blog post. This card knocked me back a few steps so I wanted to remember it, by putting it here.

Susan,
What is an angel? She is a messenger of God. He releases her to take flight in search of a troubled spirit. She locates the one He wishes to touch. As a selfless act, she plucks a feather from her wing. By the power of the Holy Spirit, He transforms the feather into the shapes of 3 halos and inscribes His word upon them which speaks of faith and His gift of grace. This confirms to the troubled sojourner that God has heard her prayers, has counted every tear, and is directing her path. This reminds her to trust.

Then, how does one thank an angel? By bowing before God and asking special blessings upon His angel. Humbly tell her, "Thank you" and at the right time, pay it forward.

Dear Angel Susan - thank you.
With love and blessings,
Kim
